Attended 1945-1956 (I think) We had cod liver oil, milk and orange juice in the mornings. In the pm's we had camp beds for our nap. Anyone remember Miss Shepherd, Mrs. Maitland or Miss Cunningham who was also the brownie and guide leader. Happy memories, shame to see it in this state.

I remember it well... or think I do! Mr Hunter as sports teacher, Mr Brooks as a very paternal headmaster, Mrs Maitland and I thought it was Miss Collinwood instilled a sense of curiosity and discovery for which I am forever grateful. I also remember being on set up the camp beds duty, happy days indeed.

Yes you are right it was Miss Collingham. Rumour had it that she was having an affair with Mr. Hunter. Do you remember Mr.Childs he was the headmaster before Mr. Brooks

Yes it was Miss Cunningham. I remember Mr.Childs who was the headmaster before Mr. Brooks. His wife was also a teacher there too. They both retired. I have a photo of his retirement in the school playground.

I went to St Hilda's from around 75' to 80'...Mrs Foster was the head mistress back then...The teachers I remember were, Mrs Hill Mr Watkins Mr Thewlis (very frightening man lol) Mrs Hutchinson (every lad fancied her lol) Thats all I can remember off the top of my head...I loved that school and have very happy memories of my time there, shame it was demolished (I would have thought that with it being that type of building tha it was it would have been some kind of listed building)... Keith I remember the 'slope' as well, once all icy it mad a great slide lol...I do remember your name Keith but I thibk you may have been in the year above me (were you in the same years as John Ellis ? or Andrew Loftus ?) these 2 names i've said you will most likely remember at a guess...

I went to St Hilda's from 1969 to 1973. My class teachers were Miss Light who got married and became Mrs Shaw (or the other way around), Mrs Maitland, Mrs Patrick, who was also into amateur dramatics and who we went to see at the Civic Theatre once and Mr Savage. I have a lot of "snapshot" memories of my time there including screaming the place down on my first day, "Movement and Music" lessons, a trip to a beatle drive, the den in the trees at the very bottom of the field behind the church, going to church on Thursdays and lots more. It's a pity that the only pictures I can find are of the school's demolition.
