Description:
January 2001. View shows Manston Towers in the early stages of demolition. This block of high-rise flats situated off Eastwood Lane was one of eleven built on the Swarcliffe estate in the mid-1960s. All but one were pulled down in the 2000s. Ash Tree Court, just visible on the right, was one of those demolished in 2006. Image courtesy of Leslie Cole.

My grandma and grandad, Lily and John Edward (Jack) Power lived at 56 Eastwood Lane when these flats were built in the 60s. In fact grandad was the night watchman for the building site.
