I lived at 33 Mill Green Place with my parents, Lily and Cliff, and two brothers Tony and Gerard. As children we played on what we called "the green". The flats were out of bounds to us kids although we did occasionally go in and slide down the wooden banisters trying not to scream out when we slid over the lumps of coal that were stuck on them to stop us from doing just that.

In th 50s/60s played on this green land often. Also played at "getting round the square" without being seen. Running in and out of gardens, hiding wherever we could. Played with the Brown's, Stead's, Cannon's, Roger's and us Monaghan's. Simple fun; happy days.
