Middleton Railway Line at Moor Road
1971. View of the Middleton Railway line at Moor Road, Hunslet. Part of Middleton Woods are visible in the backgound (known locally as 'Miggy Woods'). The wooden construction on the left-hand side of the track is thought to be a crude but effective boarding/alighting facility. It appears to be the exact height of a station platform.

The wooden construction is exactley as you think ! It was the 'platform' for boarding and alighting the trains. The tubular object at the top left of the picture , above the platform is the old water crane for the colliery locomotives, though out of use at this time . The new Middleton Railway Station and engine house now stand on this site
