1971. Close-up view showing the detail of some of the tiling at the Garde Gate public house on Waterloo Road. This historic pub has survived while all around it was demolished and turned into a 1970s housing estate. Now addressed as Whitfield Place, in 2012 it is owned by Leeds Brewery, and is a Grade II* listed building.
