Description: 1964.
This photograph was taken standing in the garden of 254 Dewsbury Road (former surgery of Mr. H.W. Freer Dental Surgeon), looking across Dewsbury Road slightly to the right. The brown door on the left of the picture was previously Mrs. Edna Pickering's Wool Shop (no.227). Central to the picture are Crockett's dry cleaners at no.229 (left) and Robert
Milner's Fish Stores at 231 (right). On the far right is an archway leading to the yard of Top Mill. The next shop along (off the picture) was a butcher's. Two policemen walking along the pavement carrying their capes over their shoulders are probably heading to the police station down the road for parade. Photograph and information courtesy of Noel Freer.
