Description: December 1918.
View shows Maud Brown seated at a piano at the Albert Hall during a performance of W.S. Gilbert and Ed German's 'The Moon Fairies' by the Leeds Postal Ladies Operatic and Dramatic Society. This concert in December 1918 was held in aid of St. Dunstan's Hospital for blind soldiers. The Albert Hall, situated in the Leeds Mechanics Institute, was later to become the Civic Theatre and is now part of Leeds City Musuem. Maud Brown's family were leather dressers in Otley; a Kelly's directory of 1917 lists A. Brown & Sons, chamois leather dressers, of Manor Street. Maud later emigrated to Australia.
