Description: 18th July 1982.
View looking out over Temple Newsam Park from the courtyard of Temple Newsam House. Part of the house is visible on the right. The sculpture seen in the middle of the courtyard is the work of Castleford born sculptor and artist, Henry Moore entitled "Three Piece Reclining Figure Number 1", dating from 1961 to 1962. There were 8 bronze casts made of this sculpture which have found a home in museums and galleries at home and abroad. The original artist's cast was presented by Henry Moore to the Tate Collection in 1978 and the original plaster is in the Moore Collection at the Art Gallery of Ontario, presented in 1974. Other casts on public display (at the present time, 2013) include the County Museum of Art in Los Angeles, Corniche Road in Jeddah and our own Yorkshire Sculpture Park (this may be the same sculpture as seen in this image). The YSP has the largest display of open-air bronzes by Henry Moore in Europe and an image of "Three Piece Reclining Figure Number 1" may be found on the website, www.ysp.co.uk
