Undated. Image shows Mr. and Mrs. James Vennard outside their home, Tannery Cottage, located off the south side of Green Road. It was adjacent to the Highbury works, formerly Meanwood Tannery. James Vennard (1863-1932) had been a City of Leeds policeman. He married Emily Bradley on the 7th October 1896 and they went on to have nine children. The Leeds Directory for 1927 lists James Vennard as a confectioner and in charge of Meanwood Town Sub-Post, M.O. and P.O. & Telephone Call Office ( Meanwood Post Office). This was located on the east side of Stonegate Road at number 2.
