Description: Summer 2012.
View shows the lower of the two Clayton Ponds, situated in Clayton Woods adjacent to the old Brigg's Quarry. This pond is much deeper than the other, reaching a depth of about 15 feet, and is particularly popular with fishermen. A number of bodies have been reported as having been found at the bottom over the years. The pond was reputedly built by monks; if anyone has more information about its history please let us know.
