Clayton Wood, Lower Pond
Summer 2012. View shows the lower of the two Clayton Ponds, situated in Clayton Woods adjacent to the old Brigg's Quarry. This pond is much deeper than the other, reaching a depth of about 15 feet, and is particularly popular with fishermen. A number of bodies have been reported as having been found at the bottom over the years. The pond was reputedly built by monks; if anyone has more information about its history please let us know.
