Kirkstall Abbey, from the south
c late 1960s. View of the ruins of Kirkstall Abbey seen from the south. The building on the left is the laybrothers' reredorter (toilet). Moving right is the former Lay Brothers' Lane, later converted to a malthouse and bakehouse after the decline of the lay brothers. This is followed by the refectory where one of the monks would read from a pulpit while the rest of them ate their meals in silence.
