Leeds Youth Week, Thomas R. Trigg and Ronnie Waldman providing commentary
26th September 1942. Taken at the "Rally of Youth" at the Sports Oval, Roundhay Park, as part of Leeds Youth Week, this view shows Director of Parks Thomas R. Trigg (left) and the BBC's Ronnie Waldman (known for "Puzzle Corner" on the radio programme "Monday Night at Eight") providing a running commentary. Leeds Youth Week was organised by the Yorkshire Evening News as a means of boosting the morale of the young people of Leeds and distracting them from the hardships of war. This image was digitised as part of the ‘Future Prospects of Urban Parks’ project, conducted by the University of Leeds in partnership with Leeds City Council, supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (grant number: AH/N001788/1)
