Roundhay Park, Waterloo Lake
Description:
29h May 1944. View showing crowds of people enjoying a day out at Roundhay Park on a Whit Monday Bank Holiday during the Second World War. People are bathing in the lake at the far side while others are out on the boats; a long line of people at the near side appear to be queuing for something, perhaps for the boats. This image was digitised as part of the ‘Future Prospects of Urban Parks’ project, conducted by the University of Leeds in partnership with Leeds City Council, supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (grant number: AH/N001788/1).
