Spring 2008. Image shows a pile of stones and rubble on the site earmarked for the construction of three Newt Receptor Ponds. The construction was to be undertaken by Ramboll for client The Burford Group. This was to conserve the habitat of the Great Crested Newt, a protected species, and was part of the conditions the Burford Group had to meet in order to begin construction of an urban village development on the 50 acre former site of Woodside Quarry. The newt ponds were completed but the recession bit and to date (2017) plans for the urban village are on hold.
