November 1923. View shows a smartly-dressed man outside the monkey enclosure at Roundhay Park Zoo, Canal Gardens. He is holding one monkey while passing a piece of food to another monkey who is sticking an arm through a hole in the cage. Below this is a box collecting money for "Sooty's Appeal" - this appeal, organised by Mr Trigg of the Parks Department, was part of the Yorkshire Evening Post's "Boots for Bairns" appeal to provide boots and shoes for poor children across the city. We are unsure who Sooty was - maybe one of the monkeys?
