Description: Undated. Image shows a scale model of John Blenkinsop's rack steam engine, used between the Middleton collieries and the Leeds coal staithes. Colliery owners the Brandlings had built a wooden waggonway in 1758 to carry coal into Leeds, which was upgraded in around 1820 to take heavier locomotives. The line is now a heritage railway run by volunteers.
