March 1980. View shows the entrance to Chapel Allerton Social Institute situated on Well Lane, with a small yard in front. The building is derelict and due to be demolished shortly. This teetotal establishment started out as the British Workman Memorial Hall in the late 1800s and continued with this name until around the 1960s.

I lived at the Club from 1952 to about 1969. It was in SLIGHTLY better condition when I lived there.. To the left is the main snooker room, and to the right is what was called THE WHIST ROOM, where people came to " amazingly " play cards. The room was also used for Jumble Sales.
