Whitelocks, Turk
31st March 2017. View shows Whitelocks public house in Turk's Head Yard off Briggate. The name Turk's Head above the window is a reminder of the pub's origins. According to the blue plaque on the wall, "Occupying a medieval Briggate burgage plot, it was first licensed as the Turk's Head in 1715. Rebuilt by the Whitelock family in the 1880s, it later extended into the row of Georgian working men's cottages." In 2016, the pub's former function room next door re-opened as its sister bar under the name Turk's Head, specialising in craft beers and cocktails.
