The Headrow, Royal Procession
17th October 1958. Crowds line The Headrow to watch the Royal Procession go past during a visit to Leeds by HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. The main focus of their visit was to attend the centenary of the Leeds Triennial Musical Festival, but they also visited Leeds University as well as various factories and an old people's hostel. Shops and businesses visible on The Headrow include (from right) M. Panter hairdresser, Carling & Wright TV Rentals, The Post Office, The Vine public house, The Three Legs public house and Super Jet Dry Cleaners. Beyond the junction with Vicar Lane is Wiley's Cycles on the corner with Eastgate.
