I was born at 6 Wynford Mount in February 1953, the side of which can be seen on the left hand side near the top of the road. I am told that it was thick snow at the time, and these photos look as if they were taken late winter/spring,obviously just as the snow had melted. The road must have been unmade for some years, as I can remember it in that condition. I can also remember a gas lamp on the right hand side going up. The "odd" number houses were built before the war, and were larger houses. My parents moved into number 6 Wynford Mt in February 1952 when it was first built. Apparently the house took years to dry out and had concrete floors. Our garden had a very large back garden, and I remember it being a field and a wonderful place to play in.

On looking at this photo some years after it was first put on Leodis and I made my first comments, I see a date has been put on it - 18 February 1953. On that date I would have been 9 days old having been born at home, at 6 Wynford Mt on 9 Feb 1953. Looking at the photo of our house (no. 6) which is near the top on the left hand side, I see that the washing (hung out on 18 February according to the date of this photo!) will have been my nappies! Well before the day of tumble dryers and now disposables! I have incidentally this evening been on the telephone to my old friend Kate Head who lived next door at no. 8, who being 14 months younger than myself was not even born at the time this photo was taken - how many people are still in touch with their baby/childhood friend/neighbour 60 years on! Happy days.
