This view is taken from St Martin's View, a few yards from where I live. The street, the wall, the trees and the buildings are unchanged but the garages (on the right) are scheduled for demolition to build more offices. I've known the offices and the street all my life and never heard the building called Grid House. It was the North of England HQ of CEGB and is now Leeds Healthcare.

We lived in St Martins Gardens (circa 1937-1959) and we always refered to the Electricity HQ as 'The Grid' altho' I never heard it called Grid House. The system of ginnels which ran from the back of the Gardens to the View ran alongside the wall of 'The Grid'

I lived in St. Martins View from about 1939 until 1954 when we left Leeds for Canada. I have a photo of me beside the Church railings before they were removed for munitions for the war. I try and visit every time I visit Leeds. The St. Martins have not changed much over the years.
