28th April 1937. Showing the covering-in of Lady Beck and the construction method used, note the use of the wooden arch template. At the centre is a concrete mixer and slide. To the right of the site is the Lloyds Arms public house and, to the left, The United Yeast Co. Ltd. buildings (yeast merchants, Union House). At this point Lady Beck flows under York Street and then crosses beneath the London & North Eastern railway line, following the line of Duke Street before emerging at the other side of Marsh Lane as Timble Beck.
