For this Christmas Eve performance at the Grand Theatre, there will be a grand pantomime,'...written especially for this theatre by John F. McArdle Esq.' entitled, 'Blue Beard' (or, 'Harlequin the Amorous Ameer of Afghanistan').
The performances will usually commence at 7.30pm. There will also be some day performances , '...to which children under 12 will be admitted at half price to all parts except the Gallery'. These will be given on Thursday, Friday and Saturday during Christmas week and on Wednesday, 1st January, 1879.
Actors include: Mr. George Barrett, Mr. Furneaux Cooke, Mr. John Walton, Mr. W.M. Walton, Mr. Charles Cathcart, Miss Nellie Bouverie, Miss Adelaide Newton, Miss Nellie Vincent, Miss Gertrude Tempest, Miss Retta Walton, Mr. J.H. Ryley, Mr. Cyrus Bell, Mr. George Walton, Mr. George Andrews, Mr. Samuel Clive, Miss Haidee Crofton, Miss Ida Courtney, Miss Alice Holt, Miss Katie Seymour, Miss Harriett Walton. There will also be a corps de ballet of 60 ladies and over three hundred auxilliaries
