The school provided education from kindergarten stage upwards from about 1930, until a new school was built on the site in 1969, St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Primary School. Children transferred from St. Philomena's Convent School to Mount St. Mary's in Leeds.

Colour imageMay 1967 Two sisters of the Holy Family of Wetherby stand in front of the entrance of the convent adjoining St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School. They eventually moved from here to number 47 North Street. The sisters of the Holy Family originated from Mount St. Mary's in Leeds and came to Wetherby in the 1930s.

Black & White image2nd May 1967 Section of Cardigan Crescent, number 19 is at the left edge, moving right the numbers follow in sequence to 31 on the right. The two sides of Cardigan Crescent had two different styles of building. The odd numbered side was a terrace of back-to-backs, with added dormer windows to the attics, square bay windows at first floor level and basements, also small gardens. The opposite, even numbered side had blocks of four conventional back-to-backs.
