Grand Theatre, New Briggate (City Centre)
Black & White image1988 The Leeds Grand Theatre, situated on New Briggate was designed by George Corson although much of the work was carried out by his assistant James Watson. The Theatre was completed in 1878 in Romanesque style decorated with arched windows and circular roof turrets. Posters advertise a performance by the Headingley Amateur Operatic Society of The New Moon. Other forthcoming shows include Postman Pat, Winnie the Pooh and performances from Opera North.

Lord Mayor's Parade, Headingley Amateur Operatic Society float (City Centre)
Colour image1974. View shows the Headingley Amateur Operatic Society's float at the Lord Mayor's Parade 1974. They are promoting their performance of "The Merry Widow" due to take place the following week. Behind is a beetle car "Herbie" from Trust Motors (VW) Ltd. of Gelderd Road. The parade is travelling along Calverley Street, passing the Municipal Buildings, at the time housing the City of Leeds Museum as well as the Central Public Library.
