Black & White image13th July 1939. Members of an ARP Rescue Party stand on the back of a truck, used as an emergency vehicle. The men are dressed in protective clothing, with tin hats and gas masks. The man standing beside the cab is wearing a boiler suit. The truck belonged to M Harrison and Co, quarry business of Post Hill, Pudsey.

Black & White image12th July 1939. A.R.P. (Air Raid Precaution) rescue party stand on the back of a Bedford truck, equipped with ladders, rope and other rescue equipment. The men are dressed in protective clothing with tin hats and gas mask bags. The truck belonged to PE Snowden and Sons Ltd, Firth Road, Beeston, a building contractor.

In front of this is the Halifax Building while in front of this is the grey outdoor carpark and white exterior of the Merrion Centre. The green dome in the distance belongs to Harehills Lane Temple while the tower block on the left is Tower House. The red brick building just seen in the bottom right hand corner is the old roof playground of the former City of Leeds School.
