On the corner a letter box stands outside the Castleton Post Office also the National Insurance dispensing chemist run by E.D. Garvin M.P.S. To the right of this is D & M Darbishire newsagents, advertising Capstan and Players cigarettes, with an advertisement for Dettol wall mounted above the shop. Just seen on the far right is Abbot Street.

Black & White image1st February 1968 Image shows four back-to-back terraced houses at Armley Road end. On the left is a yard originally used for an outdoor toilet, - with house No 8 on the right. Cast iron plates at pavement level on the wall of each house once gave access to coal cellars.

This grocers sells cigarettes, sweets, frozen food, nylons and haberdashery and coal bricks. Famous brands advertised include Walls, Golden Virginia, and Birds Eye. Advertisements on the Abbott Rd side of the building promote the Army, Sunbrite, and Cardinal Liquid flush.

Famous brands advertised include Walls, Golden Virginia, and Birds Eye. Advertisements on the Abbott Street side of the building include extra cephos for a 'headache and a half' and cadets. In front of the shop a van is parked with a man walking past in overalls. The van REG is RGC 9G3.

The shed on the far right of the gable end is the Castleton Post office and chemist, advertising national health service prescriptions dispensed here. The shop on the the right is the D & M Darbishire Newsagents outside are advertised the Sunday people and the People Newspaper. Advertised above the shop is Dettol antiseptic and Cardinal Liquid polish.
