Children's Home, Rothwell Haigh (Rothwell)
Black & White imageUndated. Image shows a class of girls at the Children's Home on Wood Lane, Rothwell Haigh, which was also known as Rothwell Cottage Homes. The children received instruction in practical subjects to help them earn a living after their schooldays - here the girls are receiving cookery instruction. The home was closed in the 1950s and later demolished.

Eastmoor Farm, Tile Lane (Adel)
Colour imageMarch 2013. View shows Eastmoor Farm on Tile Lane, near Spring Hill. This was originally the farm for Leeds Reformatory for Boys (later Eastmoor Approved school) on the opposite side of Spring Hill,also on Tile Lane, which opened in 1857. The school closed and had been undergoing preliminary work for a large housing development before the recession hit. Since then, however, the plans have changed and the old site of Eastmoor School has now been re-developed as Adel Beck Secure Children's Home, a £12.5 million complex with 24 bedrooms, a teaching block, a canteen, leisure facilities and administrative space. Hawksworth Hall, Postcard (Hawksworth LS20) (3 comments)
Black & White imageUndated Occupied by various families including the Hawksworths Fawkes (of Farnley Hall) and the Horsfalls. The house was built over various dates and is of varying styles. It was used as a children's home and is now being renovated for commercial use.
