Black & White image1964 In the centre of this aerial view is the City Station. The River Aire is to the left as it disappears under the Dark Arches, to emerge on the right with the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. This is Granary Wharf, now a specialist shopping area. The Queens Hotel facing onto City Square, is also to the left of the Station, with City House office block on a triangle of land between the railway lines to the right.

Black & White image1964 The main focus of this aerial view are the two railway stations which served Leeds. Central Station, on Wellington Street is in the bottom left corner. Whitehall Road is on the right of the station. Moving across, the River Aire is in the centre as it flows under the City Station to emerge at Granary Wharf just before Leeds Bridge. This underground section is known as the Dark Arches. In the bottom right corner part of the Leeds-Liverpool canal is visible. Following the railway line to the top right corner, the Parish Church is to the right, this is approaching Marsh Lane area.

Black & White image1964 This aerial view shows the Leeds railway stations. In the top left corner is Wellington Street, moving right is Central Station. This was closed in 1967 and the site used for Royal Mail headquarters which is now demolished and a new development is underway. Whitehall Road runs between the station and the River Aire. Next, City Station which is at the top of the view with lines running to the bottom. The Leeds-Liverpool Canal is also here. In the bottom right corner, Globe Road is coming in from the Holbeck district City Station was renovated in 2001-2.

Wellington Street runs at an angle across the top left corner, with Central Station between the road and the river, City Station is in the top right corner. From the bottom left corner, Whitehall Road runs up past the Central Station to join Aire Street / Wellington Street. Royal Mail building was erected on the site of the station, The Aireside Retial Park and development are all in the vicinity.

Black & White image22nd May 1949 View looks in a north easterly direction across the grounds of Kirkstall Abbey. The cruciform church is towards the left with the open air cloister in the centre. Footpaths were added to the site during a programme of conservation and restoration between 1892 and 1896. The entrance to the Abbey House Museum is just visible in the centre of the left edge across Abbey Road. Morris Lane runs across the top of the view. Houses on The Rise can be seen in the top left with Black De Lacy Mount, De Lacy Mount and Back Norman Mount in the top right. The River Aire is visible along the right edge.
