Image shows a row of young pupils of Belle Isle County Primary School as they shoulder their hoes in readiness for the Flowers For Leeds Competition. The committee were keen to encourage young gardeners throughout Leeds schools and in 1952 a new trophy, the Robert Barr Cup, was introduced for the lucky winners.
