Boroughgate, junction with Wesley Street (Otley)
Black & White imagec Nov-Dec 1976. Views shows Boroughgate at the junction with Wesley Street, seen on the left. Onthe corner is a Grade II listed building which comprises no.1 Wesley Street and nos.36-38 Boroughgate. Formerly a block of dwelling houses which dates from the 18th century, it has more recently been used as offices, at the time by Atkinson, Dacre & Slack, solicitors. The building is relatively plain in architectural terms but is listed as an unalterd example of its date. Further along on Wesley Street are the premises of Edward A. Winpenny, photographer (some of whose photos appear on this site), while on the right is Jacksons of Otley, car showroom and garage, at nos.40-42 Boroughgate. This occupies an old 1826 Wesleyan chapel, as well as the later extension visible beside the road. The extension has since been demolished and the old chapel behind, a listed building, has now become part of Chevin Court retirement flats.
