Aerial View of Clifford Looking north west towards Boston Spa. Bramham Road curves inwards from bottom left hand corner and sweeps round into the High Street. The High Street continues in a straight line past St. Edwards' Roman Catholic Church at the centre of the right edge. Brandishing off the High Street, left of centre, is Albion Street, which joins the Boston Road. Across the fields to the right, the straight road is Cinder Lane and High Trees School is visible at the top and above with red roof line is Martin House Hospice which opened in 1987 for children with life limiting conditions. This aerial view shows the River Wharfe spanned by Wetherby Bridge. The bridge carries the Great North Road into Wetherby High Street left and becomes Boston Road enroute to Boston Spa, right. The weir is visible to the left of the bridge. At the Boston Spa side of the bridge, the dark roofs of Micklethwaite Stables can be seen and just before the roundabout, centre, between Boston Road and Wetherby Road is the Ramada Wetherby Hotel. View of St. John's Institute in Boston Road. This started life as the Catholic Institution for the Deaf in Sheffield in 1870. New and larger premises were sought and Boston Spa College with 7 acres of land was purchased in about 1874. Apart from more academic subjects the children were taught a wide range of skills and crafts. Many extensions were added over the years including a farm and a chapel in the 1880s.
