Frost Corner, at the junctions with Westerton Road, Constable Road, Hollerton Lane and Haigh Moor Road (Tingley)
Colour imageUndated. View of Frost Corner at the junctions with Westerton Road (where vehicle is parked), Constable Road, (off camera, left), Hollerton lane at the left edge (where cars are parked) and Haigh Moor Road (foreground). This area is known locally as Frost Corner because the Frost family built the cottages and managed the corner shop. The last surviving member of the Frost family to occupy one of the properties was Miss Frost, grandaughter of the builder. She died in the 1960s. Frost Corner shop was sold to Dennis Trafford and he replaced the original gas lighting with electric. In this image the shop is now L & B. News and is numbered as 174-176 Westerton Road.
