Although built in 1872 as Morley Finishing Mill, it had long been a typical union cloth mill having become linked with others like Peel Mills and Glen Mills in the same grouping. | 1929. A Medical Charities' Carnival Day float outside Glen Mills. The float, which is probably a mill lorry, is decorated to advertise the services of The Vanity Box, a Morley beauty salon, and has 10 girls in short dresses with different hair styles. Photograph from the David Atkinson Archive.

View looking south along Queen Street from the bell tower of Morley Town Hall. Shops are visible at the Market side of the road from the 1937 red brick Co-op Emporium as far as the Hainsworth garage building at the Fountain. At the other side of the road just the roofs are shown from Windsor Court to the Tesco building. Car parking problems are already arising. Four mill chimneys are to be seen on the horizon probably from Glen Mills, Oak Mills, Beacon Works and Tingley Mills.
