Millwright Street, Hope Road (Mabgate)
Black & White image9th June 1916 Image shows Hope Road on the left and Millwright Street on the right. Two men hold a surveyors ruler to measure the height of the building on the corner. One man holds the ruler at the base while the other stands at the top of a ladder and supports the top of the ruler. This man's head is not showing on the photograph. The building behind has been boarded up and registers on the ruler as 17 feet tall.

These three dwellings were designed for demolition under the Local Government Provisional Orders (Housing of Working Classes (No.2) Bill. The archway leads from Mabgate Green, at this side, through to Millwright Street.

Regent Street (City Centre)
Black & White image12th January 1952. Initial digging for a static water basin on Regent Street. Across Regent Street is the premises of Hurst and Sandler wholesale clothiers and manufacturers, Sandhurst House. Next to this towards Mabgate, are Byron Street Mills, Millright Street, with Dunbley T Sheridon Engineers behind the roof of Hope Mills.
