Eastgate Roundabout, looking east (City Centre)
Black & White imagec1932. Looking east down Eastgate towards Eastgate Roundabout which has Appleyards petrol filling station in its centre. Eastgate continues to the left after the junction with Lady Lane, while St. Peter's Street leads off to the right. Behind the roundabout is the Quarry Hill area, which was soon to be redeveloped as Quarry Hill Flats; all these buildings including Scarrs Ltd., hardware merchants, were to be demolished. New York Road is seen in the distance on the left with St. Mary's Church visible.

Eastgate, construction (City Centre)
Black & White image15th July 1931 Construction of Eastgate, to be a continuation of the Headrow. This view looks towards Vicar Lane from St. Peters Street. Area of site clearance was Nelson Street and Pollards Yard. Lady Lane can be seen parallel to line of Eastgate. New building under construction is the Kingston Unity Friendly Society Building. When completed premises were shared with other companies.
