Circle House can be seen on the right, the upper floors occupied by the Union of Garment Workers, with smaller shops on the ground floor. The Yorkshire Hussar public house is on the left at the bottom of Eastgate.

Eastgate Roundabout, looking east (City Centre)
Black & White imagec1932. Looking east down Eastgate towards Eastgate Roundabout which has Appleyards petrol filling station in its centre. Eastgate continues to the left after the junction with Lady Lane, while St. Peter's Street leads off to the right. Behind the roundabout is the Quarry Hill area, which was soon to be redeveloped as Quarry Hill Flats; all these buildings including Scarrs Ltd., hardware merchants, were to be demolished. New York Road is seen in the distance on the left with St. Mary's Church visible.
