B.B.C. Headquarters, Number 2 St. Peter's Square (Quarry Hill)
Colour image2004. Image shows the new headquarters of the B.B.C. which opened in 2004 in St. Peter's Square. It houses the Television and Radio Studios and 'Look North' and other regional programmes are based here as well as Radio Leeds. The staff transferred here from the Woodhouse Lane premises in 2004. The new building was a joint development with the College of Music, adjacent on the right. The College boasts a 350 seat auditorium on the top floor. The two developments won a joint People's Award presented at a ceremony held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on Monday 17th November 2003. B.B.C. Headquarters, number 2 St. Peter's Square. (Quarry Hill)
Colour image2004. Image shows the three storey curved atrium of the new B.B.C. Headquarters in St. Peter's Square. The glazing system is by Technal, a Leeds based firm. A blue central wall bisects the building setting off the atrium. The glazing affords spectacular views over St. Peter's Square and towards Leeds City Centre. The new accommodation includes a reception area, offices, a cafe bar, TV and radio broadcasting studios. There is also a 350 seat auditorium located on the top two floors designed for Leeds College of Music named 'The Venue'.
