Black & White imagec.1960 Leeds University, on Woodhouse Lane. In the left corner at the junction with University Road is Emmanuel Church, the University Chaplaincy. The old Yorkshire College buildings can be seen on the right side of University Road. Woodhouse Cemetery is behind the University, after clearance it was called St George's Field. Land has been cleared along Woodhouse Lane to the junction with Clarendon Road in preparation for the building of the Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering buildings. These were built between 1960 and 1963. In the top right corner, pre-fabricated housing, erected to ease the post war housing shortage. In the bottom right corner, Blenheim School is in view.

On the top edge, right of the lane is Leeds Polytechnic, the Civic Hall on the right. The area of terrace houses on the right would be cleared, site used for hospital extensions and University buildings. In the bottom right can be seen Clarendon Road, with the old police station and library at the junction with Woodhouse Lane. This is a corner of Woodhouse Moor, the statue of Queen Victoria which was re-sited from the Headrow is on the bottom edge. To the left is the junction of Raglan Road and Woodhouse Lane. Behind the property fronting the lane can be seen a number of pre-fabricated homes.

Black & White imageUndated, This view looks onto Leeds University Campus. In the centre foreground is the Department of Mechanical Engineering which was completed in 1961. Woodhouse Lane runs in front of this building from the left edge to the bottom right corner where The Library public house is now situated. Clarendon Road runs from here towards the top edge. To the left of Clarendon Road is Woodhouse Cemetery which is now part of the University Campus and is called St George's Fields. The headstones and memorials were removed from the cemetery in 1968. View dates from the mid 1960s.
