View shows American gospel and R & B singer Marie Knight appearing in a concert at Leeds Town Hall. Marie Knight (1925-2009) was particularly noted for her performances and recordings in collaboration with fellow US gospel singer Sister Rosetta Tharpe. She was in the middle of a tour of Britian as a guest of English jazz musician Humphrey Lyttelton, seen here playing the trumpet in the centre. Photograph courtesy of Terry Cryer.
