Image shows the brick built Middleton Arms Public House at Middleton Park Circus. It opened as a hotel in 1925 when the manager was Paul Hall. The hotel had a magnificent ballroom decorated with murals, it also had a tennis court and sunken garden. Between 1930 and 1934, Catholic Mass was celebrated in the ballroom. A sign 'to let' is to the left of the front entrance.

 | 18th February 1939. Photograph taken of advertising hoardings (crossed through) on the side of Gibbs 18/02/1939. Butchers, Middleton Park Circus. There is a good view of the butchers' window. Also in view is Hopkinson's Grocery and part of Gatenby's the greengrocer. There are advertisiments for Ovaltine, Nestles and Stork Margarine, and theatre bills for Paramount, Strand, Tivoli and Theatre Royal.

Hopkinson Ltd., grocers; Mrs Maud Watson, drapers; Tom Marshall Gatenby, Middleton fruit market; Mrs Ethel Kershaw, chemist; William Teale, gentleman's outfitters. Gable end of butchers shop has playbill advertising the Regal Picture House, The strand Picture House. On the left W.H. Dickinson, hairdressers and Ethel Bedford, cafe and confectioners.
