P.Loftus, newsagents and off-licence shop was at no 9 Oatland Road. On the wall is an Oxfam appeal poster, Oxfam had been founded in 1942, when the people of Greece were facing famine. The Oxford campaign for Famine Relief was formed, in 1947 the first charity shop was opened in Broad Street, Oxford, which is still operating. View of Herbert Grove, looking from Oatland Road, number 11 Oatland Road is on the right. 10 Herbert Grove is on the left, then the others follow in descending order to the right. These were through houses, which had a yard and entrance from the back, which was Herbert Row. The Herbert streets were included in the Woodhouse clearance, but were in Leeds 7, on the edge of the Camp Road (Little London) area. This view is from Oatland Road, looking at Herbert Row, these properties are numbered as Meanwood Road which is to the front of them. On the right edge a cafe which was number 140 Meanwood Road can be seen. Two ladies can be seen on Oatland Road, pushing barrows with laundry. On Meanwood Road was a public wash house, part of Meanwood Road Baths. On the corner of Oatland Road is a cleaners 'White Rose'.
