The 1891 Census records Alfred Sykes at Cookridge Tower with his wife Alice, sons, Cyril, aged 22 and Leslie, aged 16. The family employed four servants including a butler, cook, housemaid and kitchen maid. Cookridge Tower was demolished c1970 and housing in Ireland Crescent now occupies the site.
