Barley Hill Road Council School, Barley Hill Road (Garforth)

View of Barley Hill Road Council School, until recently, 2007/2008, located in Barley Hill Road, It dates from 1907 and replaced the Garforth Provided School, held in the Primitive Methodist Chapel in Main Street. A new P.F.I. (private finance initiative) school has been built called Strawberry Fields Primary School to replace this infant school and West Garforth Junior School. Barley Hill Road Council School is now demolished.

Blackgates Primary School (Tingley)
Colour imageUndated. Image shows Blackgates Primary school located in Smithy Lane. The junior school dates from the 1950s but the infant school is a recent addition as part of the P.F.I. scheme. The original infant school was built in stone and opened in 1894 in Bradford Road. The Victorian school closed in July 2005 and was demolished in 2008. The former school site is in the process (2009) of being re-developed for housing by Minton Properties Ltd.

Pudsey Grangefield School, Richardshaw Lane, Pudsey (Pudsey)
Colour image2000/2001 View of the Grade 2 listed building, Pudsey Grangefield School, formerly Pudsey Grammer School. At the time of the photograph it catered for pupils aged between 11 and 18 years. It was opened in January 1911 and designed by local architect, Jowett Kendall. The School achieved status as a college specialising in mathematics and computing. In 2008 pupils re-located to new £22 million premises in Mount Pleasant, a P.F.I. scheme. (Private, Finance, Initiative). The original edwardian building is to be sold for conversion to residential units.
