Coldcotes Drive, looking north-east (Gipton) (5 comments)
Colour imageUndated. View of Coldcotes Drive looking in a north-easterly direction. To the right are the Coldcotes Circus shops, some which appear to be empty. In the background are blocks of high-rise flats; nearest the camera are Pembroke Towers, centre, and Pembroke Grange, right, situated on Wykebeck Valley Road. Further back are Parkway Court, left, and Parkway Grange (mostly hidden behind Pembroke Towers). The maisonettes of Neath Gardens are between the two sets of flats. Killingbeck Smallpox Hospital, footpath approaching the former site of (Killingbeck)
Colour imageUndated. View taken from the footpath approaching the tree-covered site of the former Killingbeck Smallpox Hospital. It was built c1915, and included the conversion of the farmhouse of Killingbeck Farm to the Administration block. The Smallpox Hospital was on a separate site to that of Killingbeck Sanatorium which continued to deal with cases of Tuberculosis. The high-rise block of flats in the background is possibly Pembroke Towers in Wykebeck Valley Road built in 1964. Image courtesy of John Garnett.
