View of Shadwell Lane showing the Old Red Lion Inn on the left. In the foreground, right, are four stone built properties. One of these is occupied by George Preston, Provision Dealer and Butcher. The properties were built in the mid 1870s and there was no mains sewage until 1912. The road surface was still unmade at this time.
