Black & White image11th March 1964 View of The Nookin, a row of old red brick terraced cottages numbering from left to right, 7 - 1 and seen from the direction of Barwick Road. They are situated close to the roundabout on the ring road at the junction with Barwick Road. These cottages were owned at the time of the photograph by Messrs Mawson & Walton.

Black & White image11th March 1964 Rear view of numbers 1 to 7, The Nookin is situated close to the roundabout at the junction of Barwick Road with the Ring Road. There are no windows at the rear and the entrance has been bricked up. Old stonework is visible along with old brick work. At the time of the image the cottages were in the ownership of Mawson and Walton.

Behind it is the Civic Hall, white with two towers, and the Civic Hall car park. To the right of the Civic Hall is Leeds Metropolitan University and above slightly to the right is the Leeds General Infirmary. In the foreground towards the left is the tailoring manufacturer's, Hepworths Ltd. on Claypit Lane. Above the tree lined Queen Square is visible. Merrion Centre is to the left edge and the railway station is visible at the top.

Black & White imageUndated, Image shows the construction of the Westgate tunnel section of the Inner Ring Road at the top with the Leeds General Infirmary on the left. The tunnel became the site of the Clarendon Wing in 1984. The ring road also divides the two universities in half with Leeds Metropolitan University buildings under construction on the left and the expansion site of the Leeds University on the right. The ring road is crossed in the centre of the image by Woodhouse Lane, below this more road construction is taking place. In the top left hand corner of the image is the Civic Hall.
