Benjamin Scarth, Royal Field Artillery (Unknown)
Black & White image1906 Photograph of Benjamin Scarth, taken from a picture postcard. He is in the uniform of the Royal Field Artillery, Leeds Artillery Territorials. He enlisted in the army in April 1889 and was discarged in August 1917. He rose to the rank of Battery Quarter Master Sergeant on 13th September 1916. The epaulette on the uniform shows '1 V West York' which shows he was a Volunteer (Territorial) at this time. On his arm there is a Lyre, which shows he was a member of the Royal Field Artillery Band.
