Black & White imageUndated, This aerial view dates from the 1960s. Barwick Road runs from left to right across the lower half of this view. Towards the left is the junction with Penda's Way which runs from the bottom edge. The Cock Beck public house is situated just below this junction. This pub is still running today. Stanks Drive begins in the centre of the left edge runs to the right then curves up towards the top edge.

Stanks Lane South runs from Barwick Road, from the right towards the top left. In the top right construction work is being carried out, this is now the Ash Tree and Penwell estates.

Black & White imagec1908. Postcard with a postmark 7th August 1908 showing Barwick Road as it goes through Stanks. Several children can be ssen. The shop of J.W. Barrass, clothier and hosier, is on the right.

Barwick Road, Stanks, nos .38-40 (Cross Gates) (2 comments)
Black & White image11th March 1963. Image shows two semi-detached through terraced properties each with a private garden. No. 40 on the left has been sealed up, while no. 38 on the right still appears to be inhabited. At the time of the image no. 38 was listed as the property of Miss A. Batty. The houses are situated in Stanks near the junction with Penda's Way. These houses have since been demolished but the house next to them, no. 42, off the picture to the left, remains but has been renumbered 142 Barwick Road.

Nos. 38 (left) and 40 are semi-detached through terraced properties each with a private garden. No. 38 on the left was listed as belonging to Miss A. Batty at the time this image was taken. Nos. 38 and 40 have since been demolished but no. 42 remains, though the renumbering of properties on Barwick Road has now made it number 142.
