On the left of the image are numbers 6 to 16 Balkan Place, a row of back-to-back terraced houses with a shared outside toilet block located between numbers 8 & 10. On the right are numbers 29 & 31 Temple View Road. Number 29 is a mixed grocery run by Mr George Martin. Products advertised by the store include Mansion Guardshine Silicone Polish, the 'Great New Crime Series:The Avenger' in the News of the World, and a variety of cigarette brands including Woodbines, Senior Service, Cadets and Nelson. Two women stand on the corner.

On the left clothes hang on a line stretched across the street.
