This Woodpecker Inn was shortly to be demolished, its last landlord being James Hegarty; a new Woodpecker Inn would be built across the road at the junction of York Road and Marsh Lane, but this has now also been demolished.

On the opposite side of York Road are advertisements for Sheldons Ltd., and Skipper Sardines. There is also an advert for the theatrical production of 'Hush Money'. This took place in the Theatre Royal, King Charles Croft on Monday 29th May 1911.
